Invited by Malaysian Invention and Design Society (MINDS), Asian Caucus of Invention Association (ASIA) and World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Hong Kong Invention Association participated in the “21st International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition – Asian Young Inventors Exhibition 2010″ held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from May 14 to 16.
This year, seven Hong Kong student members with their 10 inventions were recommended by the Hong Kong Invention Association to join the Asian Young Inventors Exhibition 2010, and the youngest Hong Kong participant is only 9 years old. After 3-day exhibition, Hong Kong representatives finally got very outstanding achievement, which includes seven gold medals, three silver medals, one special award and one international top award.
With more than 100 successful young inventors from 7 countries, Mr. Lau Chun Hei, a primary six student studied in Pui Ching Primary School, ranked no.1 award in the exhibition. The award named in “WIPO AWARD for BEST YOUNG INVENTOR” was presented to Chun Hei by the Chairman of MINDS, Prof. Augustine S.H.ONG and the Division Head of WIPO, Mr. Omar KATBI. According to the data revealed by Hong Kong Invention Association, Chun Hei is the first Hong Kong person winning the above international award.
Our Hong Kong representatives were awarded the largest number of gold medals over other seven participated countries in this exhibition. Mr. Lau Sai Chong, the Captain of Hong Kong Team, expressed that many schools in Hong Kong now place huge importance on students’ multi-intellectual development, particularly in generic skills like creativity and communication. Schools often arrange various types of learning activities, such as Other Learning Experience, for students to try, to participate and to develop their creativity. Through the lessons of General Studies and Design and Technology, students can also integrate their creative idea into real inventions, some of those inventions may even benefit to our society. Under these circumstances, Hong Kong Invention Association strives to enhance and glorify creative invention, and to lay a seed for our wisdom. We firmly believe that the prosperity of society cannot rely on speculation and easy money, the correct way is to innovate new products which work for the betterment of human kind. If our students can make full use of this vantage, in alliance with the support of our government, there is no doubt that Hong Kong will develop into a hub of Innovative Technology.

Malaysian Invention and Design Society (MINDS)、Asian Caucus of Invention Association (ASIA) 及World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)等國際發明組織主辦的 ” 21st International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition - Asian Young Inventors Exhibition 2010 “。
