Hong Kong Invention Association Ltd., former name Hong Kong Inventors Association Ltd., was registered as a non-profit social service society in 1996 with the encouragement of Mr Farag Moussa, Chairman of the International Federation of Invention Association, Switzerland (IFIA for short).
HKIA’s aims are to advocate invention and encourage invention, protect inventors’ rights and interests, and to make fundamental contributions to the economic benefit of industry and commerce. As we all know, Hong Kong is a commercial city, and has long been regarded a society seeking quick return and instant benefits. It is a pity that we have found it not easy to push the work forward because people show indifference towards advocating invention and encouraging invention. Even our Government has never paid attention to ups and downs of Hong Kong future economic base and given us assistance in policy address every year.
The trend of the times is full of challenges and opportunities. The men who won’t be bold in blazing new trails will lag behind and be eliminated. Therefore, persons making efforts have joined our association in the past few years exploring development and even have blazed new trails come out. This let us feel that the voluntary service we have done for the twelve years is not waste.
It is obvious that in the 21st century the society of the advanced countries is giving impetus to develop resources of the human intelligence and challenge strength. The Chinese Government has also devoted major efforts to advocating invention by themselves so as to enhance the strength of science and technology. Hong Kong will find it difficult to maintain the long-term superiority of stability and prosperity if only relying on few unstable economic supports at the present time unless making good use of the human intelligence of 700 million people.
Invention is that the motive force people rises the living standards and develop economy. Without invention, we can’t enjoy great prosperity, such as mobile, television, computer, E-mail, fax, air-conditioner and facilities for transport and communication. We should remember to respect elder generation and set great store by creative efforts of the inventors and scientists in the coming few years.
Nowadays, E-mail that is one of the great inventions has turned into an important skill for the mass and private to keep in touch, link up and promote understanding each other, very convenient, extending in all directions. Our association will make full use of it to send the information to the persons concerned at any corners in the word and look forward to cooperating with each other, achieving more invention results and making contribution to the society.

香港發明協會 (Hong Kong Invention Association Ltd.) 前名叫香港發明家協會有限公司 (Hong Kong Inventors Association Ltd.) 是1996年由當年瑞士國際發明家協會聯盟組織 (International Federation of Inventors Associations，簡稱 IFIA) 會長 Mr. Farag Moussa 鼓勵成立為一個非牟利的服務團體。
創會宗旨在提倡創新發明，保護發明人權益，促進工商經濟效益。香港是個急功求利搵快錢的商業都市，對於提倡發明創新反應冷淡，所以在推動工作方面並 不容易，甚至政府領導層在每年施政報告中亦未見將此項關鍵香港未來興衰的基礎工作加以重視及協助，至為可惜。但由於時代潮流充滿挑戰與機會，不創新發明求 變，將會落後被淘汰，因此，本會近年不斷有中外各類有心機的人才入會尋求發展，最近更有實用創新發明面世，令我感覺12年來的義務工作並不白做。
眾所周知，21世紀先進國家社會都在推動發展人類智慧資源工作競爭實力。我國政府亦大力在提倡自主創新發明，增強科技實力。
客觀而言，香港如不及早開發利用七百萬人的智慧資源，發揮群眾智慧，創立自己的發展基礎，單憑目前若干不穩定的經濟支持，實難長期保持安定繁榮的優勢。香港興衰人人有責，我們盼望先知先覺的社會賢達，能貢獻高見予領導者，以免落伍。
發明是人類改善生活水準和發展經濟的原動力，如無發明，大家那能享受手機、電視、電腦、電郵、電傳、冷暖氣和各種交通方便的成果，所以我們應記得尊敬這些先輩和重視近代的發明家和科學家的努力。認真來說，現代人類的文明進步就是一種發明創新的歷史。
電郵是一項偉大的發明，在今日今時已成為大眾、公私聯繫進行溝通互相暸解的重要手法，四通八達，無遠弗屆，非常方便。
本會現在亦要利用它來把發明訊息向地球上任何角落的關心者傳送，期望將來能與關心者互相合作，推出更多的發明成果，貢獻社會和國家。
